Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using TextCountify.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use the site. You do not need to create an account, sign up, or take any affirmative action beyond simply visiting the site to be bound by these terms, because there is no account system to opt into.
These terms apply to all visitors regardless of location, device, or browser. If you are using TextCountify on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.
Use of the Service
TextCountify is a free online character counter and word counter. You may use it for any purpose, personal or commercial, including but not limited to:
- Drafting social media posts for client accounts or your own brand
- Writing SEO content such as title tags and meta descriptions
- Building Google Ads headlines and ad copy
- Composing SMS marketing copy and verifying segment counts
- Academic and professional writing where word count or character count is a constraint
- Any other task that requires accurate measurement of text length
No account is required, no signup form is presented, and no premium tier exists. Every feature is available to every visitor from the first visit. You may not, however, use the site for any unlawful purpose, to harass others, or to facilitate any activity that violates applicable law.
Accuracy Disclaimer
Character limits displayed in TextCountify are based on publicly available platform documentation as of the date each platform was last verified. Platforms update their limits without notice and sometimes without public announcement. TextCountify is not liable for any posting error, rejected submission, ad disapproval, or other consequence that results from a platform's character limit changing after our last update.
We verify platform limits against official documentation on a monthly cycle and update the tool as soon as we become aware of a change, but there will always be a window between a platform changing a limit and our tool reflecting that change. For mission-critical posts — particularly paid advertising copy with strict limits — always confirm the current limit directly in the platform's own composer or documentation before publishing.
Counts for emojis, special characters, and Unicode text may vary slightly between TextCountify and individual platforms due to differences in how each platform handles Unicode code points. Twitter/X, for example, counts most emojis as two characters toward the 280-character tweet limit, while TextCountify displays them as one character per emoji symbol. This is documented in detail on the homepage and is the most common source of count discrepancies.
Intellectual Property
The TextCountify name, logo, design, layout, source code, and all written content including the SEO article, FAQ, and platform limit reference tables belong to TextCountify. You may not copy, redistribute, or republish substantial portions of the site's content without explicit written permission.
You are free to link to any page on TextCountify from your own website, blog, social media post, or newsletter. You are also free to share direct links to the tool with the share URL feature, which encodes your text in the URL fragment so others can see the same view.
Platform names referenced on the site — Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat, Threads, Bluesky, Reddit, Discord — are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only for identification and reference purposes. TextCountify is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these platforms.
No Warranties
TextCountify is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the tool will be uninterrupted, error-free, virus-free, or that any defect will be corrected. We do not warrant that character counts will match any specific platform's count exactly, or that the tool will meet your specific requirements.
Your use of the site is at your sole risk. Although we take reasonable measures to keep the site secure and the code well-tested, you are responsible for your own due diligence when relying on the output of any free online tool for professional or commercial work.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TextCountify shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the site.
Because TextCountify is a free tool with no paid tier, no accounts, and no monetization beyond third-party display advertising, the total aggregate liability of TextCountify for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the site shall not exceed one hundred US dollars ($100). This limitation applies even if TextCountify has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold TextCountify harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or damages — including reasonable attorney's fees — arising out of your breach of these terms, your misuse of the site, or your violation of any law or third-party right in connection with your use of the site.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms of Service from time to time. The most current version will always be posted on this page with the "Last updated" date reflecting the most recent revision. We will not retroactively apply any new terms to disputes that arose before the revision date.
For major changes — such as adding a paid tier, introducing an account system, or significantly changing the scope of permitted use — we will post a prominent notice on the homepage for at least 30 days before the change takes effect, in addition to updating the date on this page.
Termination
You may stop using TextCountify at any time, for any reason or no reason. Because there is no account system, no signup, and no data stored on our servers, there is nothing to cancel and no process required to "leave."
We reserve the right to restrict or block access to any visitor for any lawful reason, including but not limited to abuse, scraping, automated requests that disrupt service, or attempts to inject malicious code. We also reserve the right to discontinue the site entirely with or without notice, although we have no current plans to do so.
Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction. Specific governing law and venue will depend on the jurisdiction in which TextCountify is operated and may change if the operational structure changes.
